Cheryl Brodowski
Cheryl grew up in Michigan and moved to Connecticut, then Massachusetts after college (Go, Green!). She was introduced to road biking in 2014 and became instantly hooked on the endorphins you get from tackling hill climbs, town line sprints, and fast descents. When Cheryl moved to Vermont in 2019, she had just purchased a used hardtail so she could see what the mountain bike hype was all about. Her cross-country ex-race bike may not have been another Vermonter’s first choice bike, but she loved it and learned a lot in her first two MTB seasons! Over the winter, Cheryl upgraded to a full squish trail bike which she’s really excited to continue to learn and progress on in 2022 and beyond.

For Cheryl, the biggest obstacle in mountain biking (and skiing) is the intimidation factor. As someone who picked up these adventure sports after the age of 30, she rarely rides with people who don’t have 10, 15, or 20+ years of experience under their belt—and they don’t really remember what it’s like to be a beginner. But mountain biking with other supportive women who are encouraging and keep it light is amazing. Professionally, Cheryl works for a nonprofit that focuses on helping people with paralysis through sports and recreation. Because of her own experiences and her work, Cheryl wants to help make mountain biking welcoming, inclusive, fun, and accessible for everyone, no matter their skill level or comfort level.
